Voting rights are fundamental in our democracy. Elections only work, however, when they work for everybody. Georgia tragically has become known for its electoral disasters—voter purges, system failures, and lines lasting up to eight hours. Voters are discouraged from even attempting to cast a ballot because the barriers seem insurmountable, and many believe that their vote will not be counted in the end.

We can fix these problems and make sure the ballot is accessible to every eligible voter, and I have the knowledge and expertise to make those changes possible.

As representative of State House District 45, I will work to:

  • Allow any qualified voter to cast a valid ballot on election day and during early vote without having to jump through hoops and meet artificial deadlines weeks before the election.

  • Simplify the process of voting by mail by allowing voters to elect to receive absentee ballots for future elections.

  • Allow counties to create “vote centers” on election day to reduce lines and eliminate voter confusion.

  • Repeal the punitive “use-it-or-lose-it” voter purge provisions.

  • Allow same-day registration for all eligible Georgians and pre-registration for 16-year-olds as they obtain drivers’ licenses.
